The Block is HOT

The Block is HOT

Yessir and when I say block, I mean as in color blocking. One of my favorite looks. I’ve always adored the blocking fashions in the sixties and now it’s finally catching fire once again. Now while in the Sixties it was more of a print today it’s not just found in print styles, we are making it happen as an ensemble. Pair bright jackets, with not so bright tees to offset and a sleek pair of new colored denim (see previous post color me badd) or perhaps just go with a nice solid color tunic, opaque tights and some funky shoes. How ever you choose selections are endless. I recall this peaking in mid 2008 but it’s finally gained some heat as of late. It is a fairly daring trend but hey I have faith in you all. However if you are feeling hesitant at least give the color block shoes a try, you will find plenty a heels dipped in colour.

Kick it up a notch

Guess Mens Alfred Boots

Fashion is not just a girl thing. Gentle Sirs have been showing just as much interest. One thing I’ve noticed and I’ve been loving thus far is the new take on lace up boots. Be it the Duck Boot, Combat Boot with a twist known as the slouch and my pick the Brogue Boot. I find this can cross over so many different looks it should be considered. Easy shoe for several occasions.

Light it up

Yes, yes, yes bring a sparkle to anyone’s eye a little sequin can help you do this in a big way. Whether rocking a sequin tank with a jacket/blazer thrown over it or a pretty shirt with hints of the sequin, this shiny trend is super appealing. Oh but the joy of it all is that you have so many options. Sequins are being offered for wearing from top to bottom. Knitted sequin hats, scarves, handbags and even boots. I kinda love the Silver Uggs Sparkle  myself. Its simply fun, fab and glamorous all in one. Again you can have a quick look at the different fashions online by simply doing a search under sequin or visiting sites such as Piperlime.com, 6pm.com, Zappos.com. You will find a number of hot items. I’ve come across some breathtaking gowns  and one mention is Rachel Gilbert’s Shayla dress, a sequined Tulle gown in Gold. This gown is a complete stunner look it up lovelies. There are so many ways to add a little shine to your look with this latest trend.  So go on and add a little pizzaz.

I give a Boot

I give a Boot

Michael Antonio's McMahon ankle boot

Yes sir, I said it. Some give a hoot, I say give a boot. I mentioned before when entering this here world baby booties are usually the first pair of kicks you will don and it doesn’t stop there. I swear you’d think I were from Texas with my affinity for boots. Yes cowboy boots were in fact where the initial love affair began. Love the length it appeared to give my legs, the pointy toes, the stacked heels. It made me feel like I could be sexy and kick some tail all at once. As of late many in the fashion world have also deemed  BOOTS ROCK ALWAYS!!!! Finally others agree. Woo hoo! (that’s the cityfied version of Yee haw!!!) what’s ever better we now see boots available for every occasion. Let’s go down the list shall we:

Booties – These are boots that stop at or slightly above the ankle. They are some of the sexiest things that can be worn. Trust me. Pair with anything from mini’s, jeans, leggings. They can quickly turn a casual outfit into a wowzer in an instant, heel height determines level of wow.

Mild Calf Boot – Pretty self explanatory. Unlike the Booties these you may have to carefully select the outfit. I generally prefer Mild Calf Boots at complete flat or wedged heel. Stilettos or stacked at mid calf can date a persons get up. So if you’re a not looking for a looked geared at a particular era, I say edgy up if your going to add a heel to Mild Calf  Boots and remember Edgy not whoreeey.

Riding Boots – Love these babies. Stop just short of the knee, simple clean, straight length boot. These make occasional appearances here and there in fashion. I feel they don’t get enough cred. Such a classy look, clean. Why should Equestrians have all the fun. I prefer the look on long legged Lenora’s but hey us shorties shall not be denied if you just have to do as you must. This boot is super chic should be styled accordingly. I don’t expect anyone to wear an actual Equestrian get up, if you do, you better mount a horse soon after. LOL.

Knee High – Over the Knee –   These can be worn in the following looks, Urban/Street Chic/Edgy. Try to layer the clothing, not too much reveal. This is a bold boot, there is a fine line with this one, if not worn appropriately you can easily slip into the tacky abyss.

The above mentioned are the most commonly found. Of course we now see a bunch of Open Toe Boots, Sandal Booties. Those styles are just as awesome. Don’t be afraid. Take ’em on.  In the words of Nancy Sinatra ” These Boots were made for walking and that’s just what they’ll do…” Remember kindly too gentle sirs ” One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you” . Maybe.
